Hanoverton

Hanoverton is a village in Hanover Township, Columbiana County, Ohio, situated south of Salem and west of Lisbon with a total area of .7 square miles. As of the 2010 census there were 408 people, 162 households, and 115 families residing in Hanoverton.

Hanoverton is home to the historic Spread Eagle Tavern, an inn/restaurant which has been visited by Abraham Lincoln, Dan Quayle, Dick Cheney, and most recently John McCain, who was campaigning for the 2008 Presidential race.

Hanoverton's rich history is highlighted in it's Ghost Walk tour of historic Plymouth Street and the local cemetery. Tales of history and legends of the 1800s-1900s include local celebrities and national ties to the town. In 1977 a 23 acre area of Hanoverton was added to the National Register of Historic Places as the Hanoverton Canal Town District. The district is noted for canal-era architecture which is largely unchanged since construction in the mid-1800s.

Hanoverton students are served by United Local Schoolswhich been rated "EXCELLENT" by the State Department of Education for the last 5 consecutive years. Their facilities are located in a campus setting for all grade levels located on State Route 9 in Hanoverton.
